Getting to Bathurst
We appreciate that Bathurst seems perhaps a little harder to reach than Summer Schools hedl in State capital cities...but it isn't really.
Bathurst is served by regular plane, train and coach services. Details of these services will be included in the Summer School registration documentation which will be available shortly. However, to help the advance planning process for prospective Summer Schoolers, we can give you the following general information:
By air: THe airline servicing Bathurst is Regional Express (Rex). There are regular flights from and to Sydney.
By rail: CountryLink and CityRail run regular train services between Sydney and Bathurst. CityRail passengers must board a coach at Lithgow for the last leg of the trip.
By coach: Australia Wide operates daily coach services from Sydney (Eddy Avenue at Central Railway) to Orange via Bathurst.
By car: Bathurst is about 200kms west of Sydney, an easy three-hour drive. Charles Sturt University campus has large unrestricted car parks close to all the accommodation we will be using. Bathurst itself is very car-friendly. Parking meters are unknown. There are some parking time restrictions in the business centre, but it is generally only an easy stroll from unrestricted areas to the places in town that you will want to reach.
We expect to charter a coach to pick up interstate visitors at Sydney's domestic airport and return them at the end of the Summer School. If you are thinking of using this facility, plan on arriving at Sydney airport in good time to catch a coach that will depart for Bathurst at 11.00am on Tuesday 4 January. We shall schedule the return coach on Tuesday 11 January to reach Sydney airport before 3.00pm.
